Full credit to Green House Seeds in Amsterdam, where the late Franco
Loja built this cross for Arjan’s team. The recipe is simple on paper
and brilliant in the jar: Lemon Skunk for the loud citrus nose and
faster finish, Super Silver Haze for the soaring, long-lasting sativa
high and Cup-winning pedigree of its own. Behind those parents sit Skunk
#1, Haze, and Northern Lights #5, which is about as blue-blood as
cannabis genetics get. The clone matters here because Super Lemon Haze
from seed throws noticeably different phenos. Our cut is a proven
lemon-dominant selection, so what you flower is what won the Cups.
This is the classic get-up-and-go sativa. Onset is quick and clearly
cerebral, an energetic, uplifted, focused high that carries a mild body
ease underneath without ever getting heavy. It is a morning coffee
replacement for a lot of longtime smokers, great for creative work,
cleaning the house, hiking, or social settings. The high runs long for a
modern cultivar. Save it for daytime, because it will keep you up if you
burn it late.
Terpinolene leads this profile, backed by limonene, caryophyllene,
and myrcene. That terpinolene-limonene combo is why the nose reads as
fresh-zested lemon over sweet Haze spice rather than cleaning-product
citrus. The flavor is tart and sweet at once, frequently compared to
Lemonheads candy, with a peppery Haze finish on the exhale. If lemon
terps are your lane, this is still the reference point almost twenty
years after it dropped.
In 16 years of working with genetics I have watched a lot of “lemon”
cultivars come and go, and this one still out-terps most of them while
out-yielding nearly all of them. Green House rates it up to 700 grams
per square meter indoors and as much as a kilo per plant outdoors, and
with strong light the cut gets impressively close. Give it 9-10 weeks of
flower. Two concrete tips. First, respect the stretch: this plant can
double or better after flip, so flip early, top at least twice, and net
it. Second, it is a medium to heavy feeder that responds well to
stepped-up nitrogen in stretch and a hard swing to bloom nutrients by
week three, which keeps those long colas from fading early. Outdoors it
wants a long season and finishes late October in the north, so plan your
climate accordingly.
Growers with a vertical-space plan and a little patience get rewarded
here, so I call it moderate difficulty rather than beginner. It is the
right pick for daytime and wake-and-bake smokers, terp chasers who want
real terpinolene lemon, and commercial growers who need a name with
actual trophies behind it. Hash makers should temper expectations, as
Hazes are famously better in flower than in the bag.
