Gorilla Glue #4, also called GG4 or Original Glue, is an indica dominant hybrid of Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel, famous for resin so heavy it gums up trim scissors and for a stack of Cannabis Cup wins. It took first place at both the Michigan and Los Angeles Cannabis Cups in 2014 and the High Times Jamaican World Cup in 2015. This is one of the few true modern classics, and the ACC cut we carry ships freshly rooted with HLVd screening behind it.

Gorilla Glue #4, also called GG4 or Original Glue, is an indica
dominant hybrid of Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel, famous
for resin so heavy it gums up trim scissors and for a stack of Cannabis
Cup wins. It took first place at both the Michigan and Los Angeles
Cannabis Cups in 2014 and the High Times Jamaican World Cup in 2015.
This is one of the few true modern classics, and the ACC cut we carry
ships freshly rooted with HLVd screening behind it.
GG4 is one of the best accident stories in cannabis. Breeder Joesy
Whales had a Chem’s Sister plant herm and pollinate his Sour Dubb, with
Chocolate Diesel completing the documented lineage. Instead of trashing
the seeds, the phenos got hunted, and pheno #4 was the keeper that
became Gorilla Glue #4 under the GG Strains banner. Trademark pressure
later forced the rename to Original Glue, but growers never stopped
calling it GG4. The Chem and Sour lines drive the gas and the resin, and
the Chocolate Diesel adds that roasted coffee edge on the exhale. Full
credit to Joesy Whales and the GG Strains crew; this cross changed what
growers expected frost to look like.
GG4 delivers heavy handed euphoria followed by deep physical
relaxation, the kind of high that starts behind the eyes and ends in the
couch cushions. Databases consistently log relaxed, sleepy and hungry as
the top reported effects. There is a happy, chatty window up front, but
do not schedule anything ambitious behind it. This is an evening and
weekend strain, best after the work is done. With lab reports commonly
landing in the 20s for THC, moderation is the move for anyone with a low
tolerance.
Caryophyllene, myrcene and limonene lead the verified profile. The
nose is pungent earth and sour fuel with pine underneath, and the flavor
brings in the Chocolate Diesel heritage: diesel first, then a dark,
almost mocha finish. This is not a candy strain and it does not pretend
to be. It is gas, earth and spice, the profile that made half the
hybrids on today’s menus possible. Jar appeal is all frost; even
mediocre GG4 runs look dipped in sugar.
When I tested GG4 against newer hype cuts side by side, it still
finished top of the room for pure resin per watt, and that is why it has
never left our library. Expect a vigorous, stretchy plant that flowers
in 8-10 weeks, with most indoor runs done around day 63-70. Yields land
medium to high depending on how hard you train it. Difficulty is
moderate, and there are two things you need to respect.
First, this strain’s origin story is a herm, and stress can wake that
tendency up. Keep light leaks at zero, keep your timers honest, and
avoid big late flower stress like heavy defoliation past week five.
Second, those dense, resin packed colas will hold moisture, so drop
humidity into the 40s for the final stretch and keep air moving through
the canopy, because late flower mold is the classic GG4 heartbreak. Do
those two things and this is one of the most rewarding plants you will
ever run. Topping early and running six to eight mains keeps the stretch
organized.
GG4 is for growers who want a proven workhorse instead of a lottery
ticket. It fits intermediate growers ready to manage humidity and
stress, evening smokers who want weight behind the high, and extractors,
because this much resin was made for the press and the wash. If you sell
flower, the name still moves product a decade later. First time growers
can run it, but treat the light leak warning like law.
Is Gorilla Glue #4 the same as Original Glue and
GG4? Yes. Gorilla Glue #4, GG4 and Original Glue are the same
strain. GG Strains renamed it Original Glue after trademark pressure,
but it is one genetic line, and our clone is that original #4 cut
lineage.
Who bred Gorilla Glue #4? Joesy Whales of GG
Strains, after an accidental pollination between Chem’s Sister and Sour
Dubb, with Chocolate Diesel in the documented lineage. Pheno #4 from
that seed run became the legend.
What awards has GG4 won? GG4 took first place at the
2014 Michigan and Los Angeles Cannabis Cups and won the High Times
Jamaican World Cup in 2015, with additional placements in later
competitions.
How long does Gorilla Glue #4 take to flower? Plan
on 8-10 weeks indoors, with most reports clustering around day 63-70.
Outdoors it typically comes down early to mid October.
Does the GG4 clone ship rooted? Yes. Every Gorilla
Glue #4 clone ships freshly rooted, HLVd screened with monthly PCR
testing, and covered by our Live-Arrival
Guarantee. Lab results are at /lab-results/. We ship to all 50 states.
